A Digital Forensics Workforce Training Initiative
for America's Veterans

  About the Program

The training initiative for America's Veterans is an extension of the law enforcement training that is offered by the National Forensics Training Center at Mississippi State University. Funded by the National Science Foundation, this program is intended to vocational type of learning environment at no charge for America's Veterans, which includes those in transition and/or disabled. The training will be offered throughout the United States at selected VA Centers and military hospitals serving our wounded military.


  Course Layout

The courses will be offered at or near VA or military hospital facilities and will be scheduled to accomodate the facility's desires and student needs. Instruction will include both technical aspects of digital forensic as well as VA and SBA programs for financial assistance to start a digital forensics business. The course is seperated into three tracks ranging from a basic computer skill to advanced digital forensics training.

Track 1: For those veterans that do not have a background in computing.
Track 2: For those veterans with a good understanding of hardware and software basics.
Track 3: For those veterans that have a basic understanding of digital forensics and need
advanced digital forensics training.

  Benefits of the Training

Students completing this course of instruction should be capable of entering into the digital forensics profession at or above entry level and will be qualified to apply for government, commercial, or law enforcement job opportunities. Graduates are also expected to be qualified to enter into private consultancies as a digital forensics investigator if they desire.
